Job Opportunity with Action for Children: Director of Influencing

Location: Remote.
​Salary: c£85,000 per annum.
Directorate: Policy & Campaigns
Contract: Permanent, 35 hours per week
Closing Date: 26 August 2024.

A bit about the role 
In this critical role reporting to the Director of Strategy and Implementation, you will deliver strategic leadership across all areas of Influencing and manage the Policy, Campaigns and Public Affairs teams. Working with leaders across the organisation, your passion, political knowledge and innovative thinking will help us to secure political change for disadvantaged children, young people and families across the UK.

How you'll help to create brighter futures 
  • Leading the evolution of Action for Children's influencing strategy to secure policy change across the four nations of the UK.
  • Leading effective delivery of Action for Children's policy development, research, public affairs and campaigning functions.
  • Developing impactful influencing campaigns, designed to deliver change for children.
  • Establishing and maintaining high level, productive relationships with key external political stakeholders and partners, including government ministers, politicians, civil servants and special advisers.
  • Work with the CEO and other senior leaders in Action for Children to develop an effective engagement strategy with key external stakeholders.
  • Providing expert leadership by advising on political issues and developments.
  • Work with the Director of Brand and Communications to identify and develop impactful media stories.
  • Representing Action for Children to external audiences, including at Parliamentary events, Select Committees, professional networks, conferences and other influential forums.
