Picture
Location: Lancaster

Pay scale: £26,196 – £29,983

Hours: 30 hours per week

Closing Date: 01 May 2026

As a Family Support Worker, your role is to provide direct work with the foster family, working in partnership with the foster parents and within the professional team.

Your interventions will be purposeful, outcomes-focused and informed by the assessment of need. You will be able to understand, communicate and implement relevant aspects of our therapeutic approach.

You will ensure you are driven to ensure the community works to the highest standards.  You will need to be resilient, confident and creative to resolve challenges within the care system and enable foster families to also believe that they can overcome the many challenges children face.

As a Family Support Worker your role will also include supporting family-finding activity within the service, working alongside qualified social workers and an administrator. This will include participating in family-finding processes, including the reading and monitoring of child referrals, contributing knowledge of foster families, and supporting practical elements of matching children with carers. Final matching decisions will remain the responsibility of the allocated qualified social worker.
