Member News from The Children's Family Trust: This is Fostering - Growing Up in a Family Who Fosters19/5/2026
As part of Foster Care Fortnight 2026 and this year’s theme, “This is Fostering”, we are sharing stories that show the many different people who help make fostering what it is. A’s nomination is a reminder that fostering involves the whole family. For children and young people who grow up in fostering households, it can mean sharing their home, their routines, their parents’ time and their everyday family life with children who need care and support. A helps her Mum and Dad welcome children of all ages into their home for short breaks. “A shares her parents everyday without question.” This willingness to share is not a small thing. A has been part of fostering since she was a young child herself, and over the years she has helped make children and young people feel welcomed, settled and included. She supports young people through play, distraction and kindness, helping to make transitions feel easier and calmer. “She helps to look after the young people through playing with them and distracting them and makes their transitions so much easier and calmer.” For children coming into a new home, even for a short break, small acts of kindness can make a real difference. Having someone friendly and accepting nearby can help them feel less unsure and more at ease. A is described as friendly, welcoming, accepting, kind and generous. Her nomination recognises the way she helps children feel valued as part of the family. Click here to read the full article. Comments are closed.
