About Us 
St Christopher’s (Isle of Man) provides children’s homes, supported housing and specialist support services, all designed for young people in care, on the edge of care, or leaving care. We work alongside young people to support their development, grow their confidence and reach their full potential.

Our strategy (together with that of our parent charity, St Christopher’s Fellowship) is to create brighter futures for children and young people.  This is achieved through our three strategic goals to create more excellent homes, improve emotional wellbeing and promote lifelong learning and thriving.  We follow a Social Pedagogic approach which puts the voice of the young person at the heart of everything we do.

About the Role

We are now looking for a Chair plus at least two other Trustees to join our Council and support the Senior Leadership Team achieve these strategic goals.

Our Trustees are key to our good governance and we therefore need to have people who can bring a wide range of skills as well as able to act strategically and in accordance with good governance.   We are keen to hear from people who wish to use their skills and experience to help St Christopher’s but in particular we are looking for those with:
  • Experience of chairing meetings at a senior level (for chair’s role)
  • Children’s social care and/or safeguarding experience
  • Fundraising knowledge
  • Expertise in finance and/or risk management.

Due to St Christopher’s work, all trustees must have an enhanced DBS.

The Trustees meet four-five times a year during office hours.  In addition to this, you will be expected to visit our homes and services on a regular basis and may be asked to sit on one of the Group’s sub-committees which meet up to four times a year virtually in the early evening.

This role is unremunerated but reasonable expenses will be paid.
