Vote for Break project 'Give us a Break!' 1 May-30 May The Alan Boswell Group, based in Norwich has been successful with a submission for Break to the Aviva Community Fund. ‘Give us a Break!’ will give 24 children and young people who have difficult home lives, a fun-filled break. The next stage is the voting process which is open from 1 May – 30 May through the Aviva Community Fund website. Ten year old Jack spends most of his time looking after his mum who has multiple sclerosis. Because of her condition, she struggles with normal household tasks, so Jack works hard to support her with the washing, cooking and cleaning. He does this willingly, out of love, but it severely restricts his time for friends, hobbies, or just being a normal ten-year-old. Jack has never been on holiday because his family survives on disability benefits and there just isn’t the money to pay to go away. Break’s ‘Give us a Break!’ project will offer 24 children, like Jack, the chance to have a fun break from their home situation and responsibilities. The holiday will provide them with the chance to feel valued, experience fun-packed adventures with other children like them and give them the chance to receive the support, care and attention they deserve and make some new friends. Our joint submission is in the category ‘Supporting the younger generation’ and is for £10,000 for 24 children and young people (aged 8-15) to have a short break at Kingswood, Overstrand during 2015. The young people will be split into 2 groups of 12, and Break staff and volunteers will accompany them and support them in engaging in the wide range of activities that Kingswood offers. Hilary Richards, CEO of Break says, “This is an amazing opportunity for Break to develop a holiday experience for children and young people who are challenged by situations beyond their control. We are immensely grateful to the Alan Boswell Group for submitting this application on Break’s behalf for funding of this new project to the Aviva Community Fund. Mighty oaks from little acorns grow and this could be the start of something really special for local children and young people”. Managing Director of Alan Boswell Insurance Brokers, Chris Gibbs, echoed Hilary’s sentiments: “As a supporter of local charities, we decided that the ‘Give us a Break!’ project was something we wanted to submit to the Aviva Community Fund and are delighted that it has been accepted. We believe that every young person deserves the chance to grow and develop, whatever their circumstances, and this project highlights the difficulties some of these young people face and will give them a break – now get voting!” Help these children enjoy their childhood and have the time of their lives by voting for ‘Give us a Break’ Please get voting at Aviva Community Fund website - thank you for changing young lives. https://community-fund.aviva.co.uk/voting/Project/View/1461 Source: http://break-charity.org/news/news-stories/vote-for-break-aviva-community-fund/ Comments are closed.
