Job Opportunity with Barnardo's:  Social Worker Fostering & Adoption

Salary: £35,360 - £47,320 + £312 Office at Home Allowance per annum

We have an exciting opportunity for a Social Worker to join us within the Barnardo's Fostering and Adoption Service Northern Ireland team.

Objectives of the Service:
The primary aim of Barnardo's Fostering and Adoption NI is to provide the highest quality placements for children and young people who cannot live with their birth families, striving to ensure that Barnardo's strategic aims to achieve safer childhoods, stronger families and positive futures are realised for every child with whom we work.

Working Hours:
Monday to Friday (37 hours per week)

Location: 230b Belmont Road, Belfast, Northern Ireland, BT4 2AW

This is a hybrid working role – We place value on colleagues spending time together at our office base on a regular basis, with flexibility to work from home for part of the week.   

Some of the Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Assessment of prospective foster carers and adopters using the BAAF Form F and AAR frameworks.
  • Attending multi-disciplinary meetings, Looked After Children reviews and panels.
  • Regular supervision and support to foster carers and adopters.
  • Timely recording and good communication with all professionals involved in children's lives.
  • Pre and post-approval training delivery.
  • Participation in the office duty system on a rota basis.

Essential requirements to clearly evidence in your written application:
  • Must be Social Work Qualified and registered with NISCC.
  • Must have experience of working within area of family placement, Child Protection or with looked after children.
  • Must have experience of delivering training packages or groupwork.
  • Must have sound knowledge of Family Placement Legislation and regulation.
  • Must hold a current, full driving licence and access to a car and be prepared to travel across Northern Ireland which is valid for use in the UK. (This criteria will be waived in the case of applicants whose disability prohibits driving but who can meet the mobility requirements of the post through using other transportation)
