LINK provides therapeutic support services for children, young people and families. Much of our work is in the field of adoption, particularly supporting adoptive families, children and young people who have been adopted, as well as birth family members. We also provide therapeutic services to Special Guardians and foster carers. More recently, we have provided therapeutic services to the general population via other Barnardo's projects, health authorities and other voluntary agencies. Specific Responsibilities The role of the Social Worker in LINK is to work alongside the Practice Team in the delivery, co-ordination, and development of our therapeutic services. You will work across both our adoption services and health services, taking a lead in the development of LINK services for children and young people placed under a Special Guardianship Order (SGO). The LINK Social Work role is different in that it is largely based from home with limited direct work with children and families. The role would suit an experienced social worker who is looking for a diverse role in a busy therapeutic service, but who does not want to manage a large individual case load or travel extensively or work outside of office hours. We are looking for someone who can be flexible in order to meet the changing needs of the service, who has excellent administration skills and who is looking for a new challenge in their social work career. Supplementary Information A formal qualification in social work is required for this post. Previous experience of working in a therapeutic support service or clinical setting is desirable, as is Family Placement experience. When completing your application please refer to your skills knowledge and experience in relation to the Person Specification, Job Description and Additional Information document (if applicable). This should be done with an understanding of the context of the service described. About Barnardo's At Barnardo's we believe in children – no matter who they are, what they have done or what they have been through. Please read about our basis and values following the link below. You will be asked questions relating to them as part of the recruitment process for this role. Barnardo's is committed to having a diverse and inclusive workforce for staff and volunteers. We actively encourage applications from disabled, Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic and male candidates as they are under-represented within Barnardo's.
