Job Opportunity with FFP Member, Action for Children: National Director, Scotland

Location: Scotland with frequent travel.
Salary: £85,000 per annum
Directorate: Children's Services Scotland
Contract Type: Permanent Full Time

1st stage interviews are scheduled for week commencing Monday 16th October 2023, via MS teams.

About the Role: 
Reporting to the Managing Director– Children's Services, the successful candidate will provide dynamic strategic leadership to Children's Services in Scotland, to deliver professional, safe, efficient services in line with agreed contracts and practice standards.

In this role, your purpose will drive both high quality delivery of both existing and new contracts and focus your attention on the growth planned in Scotland maximising market share and delivering sustainable services in Scotland.

You will be a key-collaborator in our growth ambition, which is to support children into the future, growing our services and building a sustainable balanced portfolio.

This is a key role for Action for Children and the successful candidate will roadmap the future of Residential Services in Scotland.

You will make a difference by:
  • Provide clear, visible strategic leadership and accountability with a direct responsibility for Scotland Children's Services.
  • Work closely with the Managing Director of Children's Services to strategically lead Scotland's Children's Services Division, and where appropriate to lead and enable the effective governance arrangements, including lead responsibility at committees and the Board of Trustees, delivering concise management reports to inform decisions and action agreed follow up.
  • Lead and manage a multi-disciplinary team of senior/ professional staff and functions located across Scotland.
  • Lead by example to apply internal and external audit, regulatory and safety standards ensuring alignment of all areas of responsibility with organisational objectives.
  • Deliver significant and challenging financial targets through a range of services and funding models.
  • Grow a strategically significant income stream that delivers a pipeline of new business opportunities sourced and consistent with the strategic plan and business model.
 
What are we looking for from you? 
  • Proven success of identifying new business streams and converting successful new business driving growth across Residential Services in Scotland.
  • Proven success of leading and managing a multi-disciplinary workforce to achieve excellent evidence-based outcomes for children, young people, and families.
  • Evidence of forging and building relationships with key internal and external partners.
  • Demonstrable knowledge of social care and the role of the community and voluntary sector within Scotland.
  • Experience of productive collaborative working at a senior level and having the confidence positively challenge both management and board level colleagues.
