Job Opportunity with FFP Member, Fair Ways Fostering: Deputy Fostering Manager

Where and when do we need you?
Fair Ways Fostering Team are looking for a Deputy Fostering Manager to work alongside the Registered Manager and senior leadership team to ensure leadership and high quality service is delivered to foster families and the looked after young people.

Working in the role of Deputy Manager you will be involved in a range of exciting and engaging things like:
  • Having oversight of the day to day running of the foster care department in the fostering managers absence.
  • Holding a reduced caseload, monitoring visits with young people and ensuring supervisions of all carers on caseload are completed within required timeframes.
  • Line managing a varying number of supervising social workers and/or student social workers as agreed with the foster care manager.
  • Working alongside the foster care manager to develop creative and innovative means of supporting the foster carers and the fostering department ensuring promotion of high morale and good retention of foster carers.
  • Undertaking annual reviews and participating in the fortnightly managers meeting.
  • Supporting the fostering manager to ensure that compliance requirements are met and that any required actions are undertaken in a timely manner.
  • Promoting and ensuring positive outcomes for all foster carers and young people within the care of the department through implementing person centered plans.
  • Being able to act calmly and purposefully in crisis situations and demonstrate self-belief and the ability to display decisiveness.

This role is offered at 37.5 hours per week however we may be able to offer flexibility from 30 hours per week for the right candidate. All candidates must have a full driving license and have access to the use of a car as the role will require some travel throughout the Solent area.

Successful candidates will be required to provide an enhanced Disclosure (DBS). This disclosure cost will be met by Fair Ways.


You and your specialisms
Management roles within our frontline services help achieve our mission of making a difference through passionate care, support, and education. To support this, you will be required to have, or be working towards a minimum of the following qualification levels:
  • A DipSW or CQSW qualification
  • A level 5 management qualification
  • A good understanding of relevant legislative frameworks – Children Act 1989/2004, Care Standards Act 2000 and Fostering Services Regulations 2002
