Action for Children Fostering South West Peninsula and Family Breaks seeks to meet the needs of the most vulnerable children and young people in society by the provision of safe, secure and successful foster placements including the provision of short breaks for children with additional needs.

We also offer the highest standard of care-providing carers with excellent training, supervision and support to achieve the best outcomes for the young people we look after.  We have been graded Outstanding by Ofsted (2018) and strive to provide a good quality of care to young people, always ensuring they are the centre of our approach.

 Our placements cover Somerset to Cornwall so flexibility to travel across this cluster as and when needed is imperative for this role. 

How will you make a difference?

You will work towards making a lasting difference by
  • Building and maintaining excellent relationships with children, families, foster carers other professionals
  • Assessing, training and supporting foster carers
  • Listening to children and ensuring their voices are heard
  • Attending multi agency meetings and liaising with other professionals on behalf of the child
  • Ensuring safeguarding practices are in place at all times
  • Ensuring the service delivers programmes to meet the Fostering Regulations
  • Writing and communicating reports effectively 

What do you need?

To be considered for this role, you will need to demonstrate
  • Social Work England Registration
  • Full Drivers Licence and access to own car (mileage is payable)
  • Experience working with children with additional needs including autism would be an advantage
  • Flexibility to travel across the region
  • Sound knowledge and understanding of safeguarding
  • Excellent communication skills
  • A passionate and positive attitude
  • An ability to work to deadlines and keep timely records using IT systems
  • Ability to take part in 24-hour telephone support Out of Hours rota for carers
