The role
We are looking for a Fostering Social Worker to join our small developing Fostering Service located in the Middlesbrough and North East area. The role includes recruiting and assessing new applicants as well as supporting a caseload of foster carers. This position is a 2 day a week position.  Monday and Tuesday are preferable days. There is also an on-call rota which you will be required to undertake, 1 night in every 3/4 weeks.

We promote and support agile working with all our Fostering Social Workers to enable you to work with a manageable caseload. Fostering experience and knowledge of fostering regulations is essential for this position.  Part of the role is to develop and manage multi agency partnerships. This position also requires a good understanding of therapeutic parenting models.

Our team consists of Admin Support, Social Workers, and Referral Officers. We also work in partnership with Chrysalis psychology services who support us, and our therapeutic work with children and young people.

You will make a difference by:

• Providing professional supervision and developmental support, including advice and guidance to fostering families and colleagues from other agencies where appropriate, including being part of an Out of Hours Service (through participation in rota) providing support 24 hrs a day, 365 days a year
• -Completing complex assessments of foster carers, making appropriate recommendations, which may require liaison or referral of complex cases to the Team Manager, with a view to ensure outcome focused achievements for children, young people and families.
• Supporting fostering families to look after children and young people who have experienced trauma and abuse, ensuring they have the skills and knowledge to enable them to undertake this complex task within a family home environment, undertaking fostering reviews, providing high quality, analytical reports and presenting to Panel where appropriate, ensuring that children are receiving the best service possible.
• Being accountable for ensuring statutory compliance in respect of notifications, etc and meet regulatory body requirements at all times re registration.

You will need:

• A Diploma in Social Work or equivalent.
• Current HCPC registration.
• Supervisory experience in a regulatory environment. 
• Ability to keep the service regulatory safe.
• Strong ethos of keeping the child at the centre.
• Strong sense of ability to support therapeutic needs of children.
• A stable career history and experience of fostering services.
• Access to a suitable means of transport to undertake the duties of the role required. Travel across Middlesbrough and the North East area is essential.
