Vulnerable children in the UK need your help
Wherever you work in the Action for Children family, you'll be helping to change the lives of the most vulnerable children in the UK.

Last year, we helped more than 670,000 children and families across the UK. From direct work in communities to national campaigning, we are focused on making sure every child has a safe and happy childhood, and the foundations they need to thrive.

Why Action for Children?
Working here is more than a job. Everyone in the Action for Children family is passionate about protecting and supporting children. It's the sense of purpose that drives us every single day. Because we know that, when we work together, we can make a huge difference to bring lasting improvements to vulnerable children's lives.

A bit about the role
The Ballymote Family Project provides Sure Start and Family Support services. We provide a range of services which include universal services, early intervention and targeted interventions. This includes improving outcomes for children who are neglected or abused, whose parents are separating, having difficulties in school, returning to live at home, young people who have a caring role, families whose tenancy is at risk and families at risk of breakdown. You'll need to be able to travel freely as a lot of your work will be conducted in the community.

As a Social Worker you'll generally be working 9am to 5pm, Monday to Friday although there may need to be some flexibility to meet the needs of the service.

This is an excellent opportunity to grow your social work experience while making a real difference to young people.

How you'll help to create brighter futures
  • Providing direct support to families and young people.
  • Delivering interventions.
  • Providing a high quality, customer focused service to children, young people and families.
  • Developing effective working relationships with colleagues and partner agencies.

Let's talk about you
  • A degree in Social Work.
  • Experience of direct work with children and young people aged up to 18.
  • Experience of delivering parenting programmes.
  • Experience of working with children with anxiety.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • The ability to work unsupervised, using your own initiative to problem solve.
  • Access to a car with business insurance. The job requires the ability to travel according to the needs of the job, with reasonable adjustments, if required, according to the Equality Act.

Interview date:  Wednesday, 8th February 2023 in Belfast  – these details can change in special circumstances, but we do our best to stick to them.

Diversity, equality and inclusion

Male staff are under-represented within our Children Service roles. We would like to encourage more male applicants for our Children Service roles.

Don't meet every single requirement?
Studies show that women and Black, Asian & Minority Ethnic people are less likely to apply for a job unless they meet every qualification. So, if you're excited about this role but your experience doesn't align perfectly with the job description, we'd love you to apply anwww.linkedin.com/company/action-for-children/yway.
