Member Job Opportunity: Action for Children - Young Persons Worker

FTC until March 2023 working 18.5 hours per week which can be negotiated at interview stage but must be worked within the hours of 8:30am to 4:30pm Monday to Thursday.

Giving children and young people the foundations, they need to thrive.

The role
Skills Plus+ is a psychosocial skill building intervention for Care Experienced Young People (CEYP) aged between 14 and 24. We provide a therapeutic informed intervention through DBT and CBT methodology to improve the emotional and social well-being of our service users.

The service is for CEYP who experience significant distress and relationship difficulties, showing low mood and depressive tendencies, struggling to maintain consistency and who may not be fulfilling their potential. We also focus on employability. Together, we are working to give young people the practical and emotional life skills to enable them to transition into happy, healthy adults.

Are you a passionate and empathic individual with a positive attitude, who is willing to go the extra mile to improve the transition period for CEYP? If so, come join our team. We are currently recruiting for Young Persons Workers to work in our Skills Plus + service. This post will be working with Care Experienced Young People aged between 14 – 24 across Cardiff and Vale.

You will make a difference by:
  • Supporting an already established team of Young Person Practitioners (YPP), your role will be to co-facilitate CBT groups to promote positive thoughts and relationships.
  • Using CBT tools to encourage engagement with CEYP and to also explore emotions and improve their health and wellbeing.
  • Building and maintaining positive relationships and committing to providing a safe environment.
  • Attending meetings with other key individuals involved in the care of a Service User and completing relevant paperwork.
  • Conducting 1:1 sessions with service users at low risk and possible joint shared case work with YPP

We are looking for a person who has:
  • An active interest in psychology and well-being.
  • A positive and proactive approach.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to build and maintain excellent rapport with service users and professionals.
  • Sound knowledge and understanding of Safeguarding.
  • IT Literate.
  • Driver's Licence and have access to own car.
  • Awareness and empathy of the issues Young People may face in care.

  • Defnyddio offer Therapi Ymddygiad Gwybyddol i hyrwyddo ymwneud Pobl Ifanc â Phrofiad o Ofal, ac hefyd i ystyried eu hemosiynau a gwella eu hiechyd a llesiant.
  • Adeiladu a chynnal perthnasoedd cadarnhaol ac ymrwymo i sicrhau awyrgylch diogel.
  • Mynychu cyfarfodydd gydag unigolion allweddol eraill sy'n ymwneud â gofal yr unigolyn a chwblhau'r gwaith papur perthnasol.
  • Cynnal sesiynau unigol gyda defnyddwyr y gwasanaeth sydd â risg isel, ac o bosibl gwaith achos ar y cyd ag Ymarferwyr Pobl Ifanc.
