Are you ready for a new challenge? Are you passionate about providing high quality services to children, young people and their families?

This is an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated leader to become an Assistant Director Children's Services and lead our work across Cornwall, Devon and the Channel Islands.
  • You will manage 5 Children's Services Managers who oversee the day-to-day operational running of our services.
  • A key part of this role is to foster excellent relationships with commissioners in order to maintain our current work and grow it where we see that there are unmet needs for children and families.
  • You will represent Barnardo's in newly emerging strategic environments, such as the Integrated Care System, and to ensure that the children and families we work with have a voice.
  • You will have experience of working in a multi-disciplinary strategic team with partners in social care, health, education, housing, police and other organisations
  • You will need to demonstrate expertise in leading services for children across a range of disciplines, with a strong focus on early years, domestic abuse and sexual violence response service, and wider family support.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the landscape around Child Sexual Exploitation and Child Sexual Abuse is also important.
  • The post holder will need to have demonstrable leadership and prior knowledge and experience of tendering for large scale contracts (Shipley trained), e.g. Family Hubs.

Barnardo's is committed to a new approach to pay and reward, to ensure it is fair, attractive and progressive, which should be in place by 1st April 2023. This is a positive change for the charity, and a key pillar of our People & Culture Strategy. It will assist us in supporting colleagues to grow and develop in their career at Barnardo's.

Workplace offer: What it means for you
The world of work has changed. You will need to work across your locality ensuring you can visit services in different locations. You will have the opportunity to work from home part of the time.
