Closing Date: 4 July 2022
Interview Date: 11 July 2022

Barnardo's Cymru Adoption and Fostering Service has an exciting vacancy for a Family Placement Support Worker to join its Service. Primarily you will be working within the Adoption Team, but will also be required to support the Fostering Team for a temporary period of time.

As a Family Placement Support worker you have the chance to make a real difference in the lives of Children, Young People and Families by:
  • Supporting new and fragile foster placements
  • Assisting with participation and consultation with foster and adoptive families
  • Supporting with duty tasks in both the fostering and adoption teams
  • Working directly with fostering families promoting a trauma informed approach and helping build and maintain family relationships
  • Supporting the Adoption Service's Family Finder with a range of family finding responsibilities and support the linking and matching of children with their forever homes.
  • Support the fostering and adoption teams in the creation and facilitation of foster carer and adoptive parent participation events.

Once this position becomes full time within the adoption team you will have the opportunity to undertake more family finding and post adoption support roles with adoptive parents and children.

For this role, it is essential that you will have a passion and drive to make a positive difference to children, working towards achieving better outcomes for children looked after, as well as supporting children to find their forever homes.

The duties of this post require the applicant to have a full current driving license that enables them to drive in the UK and have use of a car and business use insurance.  Barnardo's is, however, willing to consider any proposals put forward by applicants that would allow them to do the job by other means.

When completing your application please refer to your skills, knowledge and experience in relation to the Person Specification, Job Description and Additional Information document.  This should be done with an understanding of the context of the service described.

Barnardo's believe in creating equality of opportunity in the workplace and supporting people to manage their work life balance we therefore offer flexible working arrangements as the role involves some evening/weekend working and travel with occasional overnight stays.

This is a hybrid working position; meaning you will primarily be home-based; however there is an expectation to attend meetings at the office in Caerphilly and undertake home visits across Wales as required.

For an informal discussion, please contact Hayley Driscoll, Fostering Practice Manager on [email protected] or Sara Henderson, Adoption Practice Manager on sara.henderson@barnardo's.org.uk

Barnardo's offers a hybrid working model covered under our `Work from Anywhere' Framework, therefore vacancies advertised with this as an opportunity are open for applicants to either work from home or any location within the UK, including Barnardo's Hub/Office that is a reasonable distance from your home address.

Flexibility
Barnardo's believe in creating equality of opportunity in the workplace and supporting people to manage their work-life balance; we are therefore open to offering flexible working arrangements.
