Member Job Opportunity: Barnardo's - Leaving Care Worker

Barnardo's work in partnership with Lincolnshire County Council to deliver its Leaving Care Service for young people aged 16-25. We support, encourage, and empower care experienced young people to live independent lives.

Lincolnshire County Council have been inspected by Ofsted and have achieved an ‘Outstanding' grade for the service we provide. We are looking to recruit a Project Worker to work across the region with our teams based in Lincoln, Louth, Peterborough and Sleaford. We also have some Care Leavers based out of County.

We have a great track record at working with young people and helping them achieve outcomes. We encourage team members and care leavers to help us plan service development and move the service forward.

Initial Specific Responsibilities
To carry out pathway plans, statutory visits and risk assessments for Lincolnshire care experienced young people.  

Within Lincolnshire the Signs of Safety model is used across County as an assessment tool.

Offer support and guidance with accommodation, health, education, employment and training, finances, and independent skills.

Supplementary Information
  • Experience of working with Children in Care and Care experienced young people is essential.
  • Continued professional development and a desire to learn is essential.
  • Experience of working with the Signs of Safety programme is desirable.

Criteria
  • To have experience of working with young people who are or have been a child in care and have knowledge and understanding of safeguarding concerns
  • To have knowledge or experience of working with unaccompanied asylum-seeking young people
  • Able to communicate effectively with young people, especially with those whose English is not their first language
  • Able to accurately record and have a good standard of IT knowledge including report writing and assessment skills
  • Able to work independently, in partnership with other agencies and also as part of a wider team
