Member Job Opportunity: Fair Ways - ​Social Worker Assessor

Specific Hours: 30 Hours worked over 4 days

Where and when do we need you? 
The Family Centre is made up of 5 self-contained flats each with their own bathroom and kitchen facilities and a separate bungalow which can accommodate an additional 2 families. Families will be referred to the Family Centre if there have been concerns identified around the safety of the children in the family unit in their current family home. Once with us, the families will be continuously encouraged, assessed and guided through a 12 week stay where they are monitored 24/7 to encourage sustainable positive parenting changes.  

As a Social Worker Assessor, you will be involved exciting and rewarding things like: 
  • Analysing risk and supporting change - Taking the lead keyworker role in analysing risk factors, needs and parenting capacity for the parents and children at the family centre. You will ensure there are regular reviews of risk factors, areas of development and strengths in order to support the parent in having a clear understanding of the presenting concerns and expectations of them. 
  • Providing a fair and transparent assessment - Ensuring parents are consulted in the assessment process, that their views and listened to, recorded accurately and that their assessment is fair, non-judgmental and evidence-based. 
  • Keeping vulnerable families safe - Observing, assessing, and monitoring the health and wellbeing of parents and children within the family centre. To promote the development of emotional well-being, through ensuring high standards of physical care, hygiene, and safety for everyone within the family centre. 
  • Demonstrating excellent attention to detail and communication skills - Presenting written and verbal information within the family centre and to external professionals including court attendance if required. 
  • Supporting Sustainable change - Leading the interventions that contribute to the assessment of parenting capacity including the review of intervention and risks.  

This position is offered as a maternity Contract working 30 hours per week to be worked over 4 days.. All candidates must have a full driving license and have access to the use of a car. Successful candidates will be required to provide an enhanced Disclosure (DBS). This disclosure cost will be met by Fair Ways. 

You and your specialisms 
Senior roles within our frontline services help achieve our mission of making a difference through passionate care, support, and education. To support this, you will be required to have a minimum of the following qualification levels: 
  • To hold a professional qualification relevant to working with vulnerable families, evidencing a good knowledge of parenting assessments and writing assessments of a high standard. 
  • To hold a certificate in Working with Parents level 3 
  • Evidence a minimum of 2 years’ experience of assessing parenting capacity where safeguarding concerns exist 
  • To hold a Social Work diploma/degree or equivalent qualification
