Member News from TACT Fostering: Foster Care Fortnight 2023

15/5/2023

It is Foster Care Fortnight, and while TACT believes that every day is a great day to celebrate the power of fostering, we will be using this annual opportunity to highlight some of the issues important to us and put a spotlight on some of our amazing foster carers.

At the heart of everything we do is the mission to provide safe, secure, caring and nurturing environments for children and young people in the care system.  And that cannot happen without our UK-wide team of foster carers, who come from a wide variety of experiences and backgrounds, but all share a mission to create better lives for children and young people.

If you share that same desire to help improve the lives of children and young people, why not contact TACT via this website and you can find out if fostering is for you.  There might be less barriers to becoming a foster carer than you think.  Age, sexuality, marital status and whether you are a homeowner or not do not impact eligibility to apply to foster.

Finding more foster carers who can look after siblings is a key ambition for TACT. Most children in care have at least one sibling and far too often they are separated, usually because of a lack of foster families with available space to accommodate them together. We currently look after nearly 300 siblings, with the overwhelming majority living together, and there are plenty more siblings in need of loving foster homes.

Here are two inspiring blogs from TACT foster carers that have opened their homes and hearts to siblings.  Click on their photos to read stories:
