National Care Leavers’ Week takes place on 25-31 October to raise awareness of what it is like for young people when they leave care. As a charity, St Christopher’s fundraises for services that provide extra support to the children and young people we look after. Many of these added extras are especially meaningful for care leavers, who often talk about support falling off a cliff once they move onto independence. These additional services include our life skills programme, our participation work and our Support Into Employment service on the Isle of Man, which helps care leavers into the job that is right for them.
