St Christopher’s Fellowship based in Putney, Wandsworth, is celebrating today after being awarded £330,055 in funding from The National Lottery Community Fund, the largest funder of community activity in the UK. St Christopher’s Fellowship will use their funding to build on a trial in getting’ young people ready for work. The charity, which has been supporting children and young people since 1870, provides quality children’s homes, supported housing, fostering with holistic specialist services, to promote lifelong learning and thriving for all those in their care. This new National Lottery funding will support young care leavers to learn the skills they need to find and keep employment, and work with businesses to encourage them to open their doors to young people who are care experienced. The young people who live in St Christopher’s homes have asked for this help as firstly through the pandemic and more recently with the worries around cost of living, finding a job and starting a career is one of their greatest concerns. National Lottery players raise over £30 million a week for good causes across the UK. The National Lottery Community Fund distributes a share of this to projects to support people and communities to prosper and thrive. Ned Wall Participation Manager at St Christopher’s in the UK said: “Thanks to National Lottery players, this grant means that we can set up our employability programme in the UK, supporting the young people we care for not just in the short term, but providing them the platform to thrive for life. This will make a big difference to young people’s lives.” Source: https://www.stchris.org.uk Comments are closed.
