![]() Trustees’ Week is a time for us to come together to celebrate the achievements of nearly one million trustees across the UK, and we’d like to say thank you to our Board of Trustees who help us to ensure the organisation maintains high standards of governance and leadership. This Trustee week, we asked some of our Trustees to tell us a little bit about what brought them to the Break family. Here’s what they had to say: Nicki Bramford Nicki has worked in Norfolk and Suffolk in various public sector organisations throughout her working life, and most recently within the NHS. “Caring about children and young people in the community I live and work brought me to being a Trustee with Break. I’ve worked across Norfolk and Suffolk for over 20 years, both directly and strategically with young people, and at times have worked closely with Break. I have always been struck by the breadth of Break from homes to shops, to outreach and mental health therapeutic services and wanted to be part of such an innovative and young lives led charity. The moment I became a Trustee it was evident the passion, care and values that staff and young people have to strive to improve young lives for the better. I am Trustee link to the Young People’s Advisory Group, which has been a humbling experience. At the group I get to hear directly from young people shaping the direction of their care, and the future care of those that use the services. My best hope as trustee is that I can bring my expertise of working across health and social care, corporate governance, equity and inclusion to promote a diverse young person-centred organisation. It is such a joy to be part of the Break Family and my role as Trustee is an absolute privilege.” Juliet Allan
Juliet's background is in marketing and communications, primarily in financial services and the arts. As well as being a Trustee, she is also volunteer mentor to a young person on our Staying Close, Staying Connected service. “Being a trustee of Break makes me feel I'm contributing to the most important job in the world - raising children who feel safe, happy, healthy and hopeful. I am regularly floored by the love and commitment of the staff team, and I love feeling the energy, challenge and inspiration that young people give us. Each of the trustees brings unique skills and experience, but I believe co-production of our services is the 'secret sauce', a real opportunity to create ideas together that change the world. I'm hugely excited about what young people can bring to the table working with the trustee team to shape the future of the Break family.” Tom Krykant Tom is a communications, engagement and marketing specialist with 28 year’s experience in strategic, creative and commercial roles. He cut his teeth in a BBC newsroom before moving through the ranks of commercial radio from broadcaster to executive. He’s also worked in the television, publishing and digital industries. “Break fills me with oxygen every time I work with the brilliant, passionate teams! As a trustee, I meet a whole bunch of diverse people, all striving to change young lives for the better. Trustees take more of a helicopter view of what’s happening in the charity, providing counsel and helping keep things on track. We also lend our specialist expertise, mine being marketing, communications and engagement. Having long been an operational director in various businesses, putting my skills to good use in a different way with Break, is highly rewarding.” Find out more about our Board of Trustees here.
